Core banking changes delivered with fewer delays between teams
TIAA’s banking teams needed engineers who could work within strict regulations and tight deadlines.

| Area | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Handoffs | Tasks waited on other teams | Fewer tasks waiting |
| Sequencing | Unclear order of work | Planned with TIAA’s teams |
The problem
- Industry
- Banking
- Our role
- Hands-on technical work
- Location
- United States
TIAA’s teams were making technical changes across core banking workflows, where coordinating systems and handing work between teams slowed things down.
Those delays were putting demanding timelines at risk.
Changes had to fit strict regulatory and operational constraints and the existing systems.
We had to make the work more reliable without adding process.
What we built
We worked inside TIAA’s teams on the core banking changes themselves.
We planned the order of work with them, so fewer tasks waited on another team.
We also worked with technical and operations staff so the handoffs between them ran more smoothly.
The result
Work stalled less often, and teams kept a more predictable pace.
Technical and operations work became easier to coordinate, with fewer surprises at handoffs.
