The problem

PearlX needed a customer portal for property owners, residents and community energy programs, and the business depended on it.

As a startup, PearlX lacked the resources to build it quickly in-house. Waiting would have risked delaying its launch and added cost.

It also needed a team that could design a complex platform on a tight timeline.

Owners and residents had to use the same portal with different permission levels, which made access rules part of the core design.

What we built

Technologies

  • React.js
  • PostgreSQL
  • AWS Kinesis
  • AWS Lambda
  • Python

We planned the portal’s architecture and UX with PearlX, then built a responsive React.js front end.

Underneath sits a PostgreSQL data layer with AWS services, including Kinesis and Lambda, for document management and secure data handling.

Separate user profiles carry their own permissions, and onboarding can differ for each community.

Stayed on as development partner

Owners and residents now move through onboarding and setup in a clearer workflow. Owners can manage several communities, each with its own onboarding and documents.

We stayed on as PearlX’s development partner while the business grew.
