M&T’s business banking ran on Voyager, a legacy system whose vendor was ending support. The bank had to replace it or risk running on an unsupported system.

Voyager’s licenses were also expensive. Internal delays in choosing a new vendor were slowing the move.

Voyager was deeply embedded, with dependencies across IT, operations, compliance and business units.

Replacing it meant a complex technical integration and a lot of coordination across business and technical teams.

What we built

Technologies

  • Q2 Platform
  • Spring Boot
  • AWS
  • PostgreSQL
  • RESTful APIs
  • Microservices

We joined as M&T’s implementation partner, and our team helped retire Voyager.

We scored digital banking vendors against 130+ business use cases, covering scalability, security, UX and integration, then helped M&T choose Q2.

We replaced TIBCO middleware with Spring Boot microservices, and built batch pipelines and APIs for real-time and overnight synchronization.

We moved the data from Voyager to Q2 using validated mapping rules and conversion checks.

The result

M&T moved from Voyager to Q2’s cloud-based digital banking platform, with secure integrations to core banking systems and third-party tools.

We trained staff, kept teams updated and wrote the documentation that helped departments across the bank adopt Q2.
